Professional Qualifications Since 1998, B. Boozer Downs, Jr. has practiced law in the Bibb County area. He is counsel to the now incorporated Town of Woodstock, Alabama. He is the also the Prosecutor for the Town of Woodstock, Alabama, holding this position since 1997. A 1973 graduate of the University of Alabama, he earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1976 and was licensed to practice in the state the same year. Mr. Downs is also licensed to practice in the Eleventh United States Circuit Court of Appeals, the Fifth United States Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, the Southern District of Alabama, and Middle District of Alabama as well as in military courts. |

Professional Experience As a Partner with Downs and Berg, LLP, he practiced municipal law, real estate, litigation, mediations, arbitrations, worker’s compensation, product’s liability, employment law litigation, business litigation, real estate litigation, construction litigation as well as conducting the general practice of law. At Dominick, Fletcher, Yelling, Wood, & Lloyd, P.A. from 1991-1998, Mr. Downs practiced civil litigation and trial law. Types of cases handled were products liability, vehicular accidents, wrongful death, medical malpractice, business litigation, premises liability, real property condemnation, tractor-trailer liability, employment discrimination, real property evaluation appeals, probate and estate litigation, insurance coverage litigation, blasting damage litigation, consumer finance litigation, ERISA benefits litigation, construction litigation such as design issues and construction defects. From 1989-1996 Mr. Downs was the special assistant to the Attorney General, and from 1994-1996, he was a Special Assistant District Attorney for Jefferson County. He is a trained and certified mediator, since 1996 and was appointed as a certified neutral or mediator by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama in 1998. |
